Q: If there was no afterlife, would you still be a believer?
Today's question is, if there was no afterlife (and if the Bible didn't claim there was), would you still be a believer? Why or why not?
Answer: This is an excellent question. The follow up question to the questioner would be: If there was no afterlife, and this life was all there was, what would remain for a believer to believe in? Belief or faith is always forward looking. And if there is nothing to look forward to after this life, why should we believe? And what or who should we believe in?
Removing the afterlife from the equation is removing God from the equation. The question itself wouldn't matter if there was no afterlife. There would be no heaven or hell.
